Sedevancantism

The term sedevancantism refers to the belief that the Roman Catholic Church currently lacks a valid Pope.

Since we are Old Roman Catholics, our current relationship with the historic See of Rome is just that, historic. We have no influence in the matter and whether Rome has a Pope or not, is immaterial to our day to day functioning as members of the Old Roman Catholic Church.

Suffice it to say, we accept all teachings of the Roman Catholic Church regarding the Papacy, including the doctrine of Papal Infallibility. Whether Francis 1 is faithful in promoting Orthodox Catholic doctrine is for the Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church to address.

We know the historic, ancient doctrinal teaching of the See of Rome and neither Francis 1 nor any other will deter us from faithfully adhering to it to the best of our ability.
